NEW D.E. RECORD COMING OUT ON TENT CITY RECORDS! Our new record "Freedom of Speech Means Talk is Cheap" is due out on April 15th, 2008. I Never Would've Survived 'Nam With You Pussies (Good Thing It Was Only Skatopia) - Part 1 By Gunnery Sergeant Hanover Fist (with apologies to Francis Ford Coppola) We set out from Philadelphia reeking of krusty punks and recycled bell peppers. We had been on maneuvers since September and had stopped in Philly to play a set in the crawlspace of a condemned building for three punk squatters, two crack addicts and a stray dog. After the show we hung around for a bit, passing a bottle of Night Train and bullshitting with the dog. When the bottle was empty we hoisted our gear and loaded it into the back of the transport. A light rain spattered over the streets but it couldn't penetrate the thick layer of filth that weighed the city down. We were all anxious to return to base camp in Chicago, but we still had a few more mission objectives to complete. So we mounted up and bugged out. The van careened over the top of the sludge in broad, sweeping arcs until we reached the expressway. Lance Corporal Stiff Mittens was at the helm. As usual, he was gimmicked up on Sudafed and Diet Coke. Nervously, he whistled the theme song from Star Trek: TNG through his rotting teeth as he opened up the throttle and steered us southwest toward Skatopia. Everyone else had hunkered down for the long ride. Except me. I was in the back of the transport reviewing our mission objectives, brooding, and smoking dope. We were headed for the craziest place on Earth, travelling hundreds of miles along highways that snaked through the back country like a power cable plugged into a shock therapy apparatus. And Colonel Brewce Martin was the one operating that device, running his current of madness through the frontal lobes of all who entered his domain. From there the madness filtered back out to the rest of the country like Tommy Bartlett bumperstickers on the backs of mini-vans. Colonel Brewce had come under the scrutiny of the Tent City High Command several months back. There was some concern that the Colonel's methods were at best "unsound" and that he himself had become unstable. Several recon teams had been sent there already, but most had failed to report back, and those that did told vague and dubious tales of fireworks and mescaline and strippers. Lieutenant Señor Citizen snored quietly in the seat in front of me. I coughed through my one-hitter and blew a small spark into his hair, unaware at the time of how prophetic this was. I watched the tiny ember fade and die in the Lieutenant's technicolor hair and felt myself fading away with it. I eased back into my nest of leather and denim and tried to sleep. -- I awoke with a start, jostled by the transport's turbulent movement up the muddy ruts and furrows of the Skatopia hillside. It was late afternoon, the sun already dipping toward the treeline. Corporal Mittens maneuvered the transport into a wooded niche near the Skatopia latrines. "Jesus, didn't you sleep at all, Corporal?" I asked. He grinned dazedly at me through the rear view mirror. "Sleep is for sucks, Sarge," he said tossing another Sudafed into his mouth and then washing it down with a swig of soda. "Better wake the Admiral." Rear Admiral Cheddar Nines was sighing softly on a pile of crushed beer cans and empty beef jerky packets in the back of the transport, unaware of where he was, unaware of how he got there, and unaware that he was in the wrong branch of the service to be on this mission. But then, none of that mattered to Admiral Nines. As long as there was beer and utter mayhem around, he was content to leave his fleet drifting with the currents. I reached down and extracted the half-full can of Icehouse from his flaccid grip. With the sound of a suckling pig squealing after a sow's teat, he awoke. "I'm still drinking that," he griped. "We're here, Admiral," I said, as he climbed into a seat. "That, Sergeant," he slurred, "is true wherever we are." He retrieved his beer from me and took a gulp. "Where are we?" "Skatopia," I told him. "Oh cool," he burped. We clambered out of the transport and into the cloistered hills of Skatopia. It smelled like slow death out there--the hefty musk of Jim Beam, sweaty leather, and a thousand Marlboros enveloped our minds with nightmares of fetish sex and malaria. Colonel Brewce was close. I couldn't see him, but I could feel him. The Admiral wandered off to look for our inside contact, Captain Foo, as our secondary transport wheeled up alongside us. Privates Amy Flower and Chris Beard emerged from the secondary transport, followed by Desilulu, the stray we had picked up in Philly. She was wearing a studded leather belt and not much else. Des had told us she was trying to get back home to West Virginia, but apparently she hadn't noticed that we drove straight through West Virginia for several hours to get here. I loaded my one-hitter and pondered her angle as I watched her sashay to the latrine. Spy, perhaps? I'd have to interrogate her later. "So what's next?" asked Private Beard. As if in reply, Lieutenant Citizen opened the back hatch of the transport and began pulling equipment out of the cargo hold. "A little assistance, please," was all he said. Everybody else busied themselves with unloading the gear and setting up shop. Privates Flower and Beard joined them in the bustle. I sat down in the lawn chair that PFC Skid Delicious had just unfolded--ignoring his protests--to smoke my dope and supervise. In the distance I could see Captain Foo, wearing a bemused expression, talking with the Admiral. The Admiral was gesticulating dramatically and sloshing beer all over the Captain. Then I spotted Colonel Brewce. He was lounging by the hamburger stand, petting a chained bobcat, and chit-chatting with an assortment of skaters, musicians, and arms dealers. It all looked perfectly normal to me. -- With the help of a few malnourished locals, we boosted our equipment up the precarious staircase which lead to the top of the skate bowl, through the reeling crowd of bug-eyed maniacs, slouching she-males, and grinning socialists. Captain Foo was waiting for us at the front of the stage with a bundle of mic cables in one hand and a claw hammer in the other. "Hey, guys," he said. "How many up front?" "Four," I told him. "Cool. Boom stands?" The Captain aimed a vicious swipe with his claw hammer at a young kid who had wandered too close to the sound board. "Get lost, you little creep!" he snarled. "Two boom stands," I said, ignoring the wind of the hammer as it whizzed past my right ear. "One on either end." The little creep skulked off indignantly. "Cool." With that, we began to assemble our equipment on the stage, moving around one another in a complicated weave that was part juggling act, part chain gang, and part bossa nova. I stood in the middle of it, scanning the crowd for any sign of the Colonel, and smoking dope. Nobody said a word. What was there to say? We were in it up to our necks. I wondered how deep Colonel Brewce had sunk into it. My guess was that he was a long way down the rabbit hole staring at a bottle labeled "Drink Me" and a pile of mushrooms labeled "Eat Me." Which would I choose If I were him? The thunder of skaters in the bowl next to the stage echoed the rumbling in my gut. I eased a gas pocket out of my crack and took another hit of dope. At last all the cables were patched, the tubes were warmed, the drum skins were tightened, and the strings were tuned (more or less). I took one more draw off my one hitter and looked around at the rest of my squad. Lieutenant Citizen had just finished tuning his fifth guitar and was now meticulously coiling his instrument cable at the foot of his mic stand. PFC Delicious sat on his drum throne chewing his lower lip and examining his drumsticks. Corporal Mittens tossed back a few more sudafeds, washed them down with a PBR, lit a cigarette, and then moved all the loose change from his right pocket to his left. The Admiral was taking a long drink off a pint of cheap gin offered to him by a confused-looking shirpa near the front of the stage. This was going to get ugly. With a nod from the Admiral, I turned to address the unruly mob that had gathered to witness our deployment. "Hey, we're from Chicago," I told them. As we struck our first chord, I caught the unmistakable and ominous scent of a burning fuse. [to be continued] Another overdue news update! We've recently finished up a month-long tour of the western United States and it was a blast! We'd like to thank all the friends, fans, venues, and promoters who helped us have such a great time. We made so many new friends on this tour it would be impossible to thank them all on this page so we'll just drunk dial your asses in the coming months instead! Our tour mates for a while were the fabulous The Pervz from Las Vegas, NV. If you haven't already done so, go see this band! If you have seen them, go see them again! Also, look for a possible 3-4 day mini tour of the midwest with D.E. and The Pervz sometime in spring 2005! Before embarking on our tour we had a few gigs that were a great time. We played a super-secret show at Liar's Club and a couple of fun/drunk shows at The Mutiny, in Chicago. There was that touching tribute show we did on 9/11 at Board to Death Sports in Rochester, MN. And, one of our new favorite places, The Melody Inn and Punk Rock Night, in Indianapolis! We love those guys and can't wait to get back there to do more shows. In other news, our long-awaited 3rd CD is finally finished! No More Monkeys will be available in retail stores and online in the next couple of weeks so keep your eyes peeled. In the meantime, you can pick up a copy at one of our shows. Look for a redesign of this site soon too! We've had so many requests for photos and merchandise that we've caved to the pressure. We've started the arduous task and, if our track record remains consistent, you should see a new site in a couple of years! Plans are in the works for a late spring/early summer tour of the eastern United States as well as a series of mini "weekender" tours throughout the year. Keep checking our "Shows" page for details. Finally, I'll be updating our "Links" page in the next few days by adding all the great bands we've had a chance to play with recently. Visit them often! August 3rd 2004 PITTSBURGH ATTACKS CHICAGO! We here at The Clown Ranch were
lucky enough to play host to two of Pittsburgh's finest exports, Motorpsychos
and Four
Barrel Ghost, over the The weekend started off with the final "Punk Rock Friday" show at The Lyon's Den (RIP) and what a blowout that was! The bands were great, the booze flowed like... um... wine, and the bands were great! Thanks to Vicki and Devil Doll for joining all us punk rockers and filling out the bill nicely! All the regulars and quite a few new faces showed up to bid a fond adieu to one of Chicago's finest live music venues. We want to thank Joe Tozer (owner) and Mark Sawicki (sound) for being such great guys and making sure to do things right. It's the end of an era, for sure. Saturday night Destroy Everything, Motorpsychos, and Four Barrel Ghost put on a repeat performance for a friend's birthday. It was a big 'ol house party that ended with the cops escorting us and all our gear to our vehicles. Luckily, we were all done playing! Screw you, pigs! We've got a few local shows coming up and our big fall tour is starting to fill out. Keep checking the "Shows" page for details, that thing should be changing daily pretty soon. And as for the tour, it looks like we're going to have a chance to play a few dates with some good friends of ours, The Pervz (LV), Subincision (SF), and Die Monster Die (SLC)! We can't wait to get out there and fuck it up for the kids! June 22nd 2004 OH CRAP! WE RUINED NICK'S FAT CITY! Actually, it was not our fault at all *wink* but we sure did have a great time last Friday night. Nick's Fat City, on the south side of Pittsburgh, does not normally book big punk shows but we had a friend with an in. We managed to get a bill together that included 5 bands full of common friends and troublemakers. Four Barrel Ghost, Mud City Manglers, us, The Cheats, and ReJX. Each band more trouble than the last. Before the night was through there was nearly 2 inches of beer, water, and broken glass flooding the dance floor, the stage was not much better. The night was full of nudity, wrestling, and horseplay, and that was just between the bands! Who knows what was going on in the audience. That's what you get when you put 22 band members, various support personnel, and a handful of friends in one green room with 12 cases of beer, before the show even starts! Whoopee! We toned things down a notch on Saturday night at The Smiling Moose, also on the south side, where we played with Four Barrel Ghost again. The focus this night was more about playing our music correctly. There was no nudity and minimal horseplay but we had a great time just the same. Several days in Pittsburgh staying with good friends, eating ridiculously good meals at Pipers Pub, and making great memories, ahhh, we can quit now. Actually, we are taking a little break (a few weeks) from playing out. We're putting the finishing touches on the packaging for our next album and starting the hellish process of booking a tour for this October/November. Stay tuned while we prepare for the next wave! June 3rd 2004 Yes, it's been a while, AGAIN. First, let me say thanks to
everyone that came out to our show at the Next, let me go back in time a bit to say what a great time we had with Subincision (San Francisco) and Dummy on Aril 25th. That is one of the best lineups that we've played with in a long time. We hope to do a show with Subincision when we're out in the Bay area this fall, if you ever get a chance to see them, don't hesitate. We have a big Pittsburgh weekend coming up starting Friday, June 18th. We'll be playing with all our friends at Nick's Fat City, check the "Shows" page for details. We're doing two shows on Saturday, an early all ages show at a record store (I'll update the name as soon as I know it) followed by a bar show at The Smiling Moose that night with our pals from Four Barrel Ghost. We're booking a west coast tour for October. We hope to hit a few cities on the way to Seattle then work our way down the coast before turning inland and heading back through the southwest. Check the "Shows" page for developments. ADDENDUM: April 18th 2004 We have a great show coming up on Sunday, April 25th at Nevin's Live! in Evanston, IL. It's a 7:00 PM all-ages show WITH DRINKING! What more could you ask for?! The lineup is stellar too; our pals Subincision, from San Francisco will be there, so will Chicago's own Dummy, and local favs The Brain Termites. GO TO THIS SHOW! And, speaking of great shows, The Weirdos fucking rule! The Weirdos are both a history AND music lesson, wrapped up in one hard rockin' package. On top of it all they are some of the nicest people you are likely to meet. We would like to thank, from the bottom of our black and shrivelled hearts, The Weirdos, The Cheats, and Joel from the 31st St. Pub for letting us play. The room was packed and it was a Tuesday night! Yet another testament to The Weirdos legend. Good times, indeed. We have a couple of Chicago shows in the coming months. We don't play locally that often so check the "Shows" page and mark your calendar! March 30th 2004 Holy shit, we're playing with The Weirdos! For those of you who are unfamiliar, The Weirdos are one of the first American punk rock bands, ever. They were playing gigs in the L.A. scene back in 1977, that's right, 197-fucking-7! They reunited last year for a few shows and that turned into a full blown tour with a new CD on the horizon. Our pal, MXV, keeper of the Punk Vault and Spontaneous Combustion, went out to L.A. to see one of those shows and to interview the band. He tried to entice them to come to Chicago for a show and it worked! We somehow got screwed out of playing with them here in Chicago, but the booking gods smiled on us when one of the bands that was supposed to play some shows with them had to cancel! Using our vast network of booking connections we managed to secure a spot on the bill at one of our favorite clubs, in one of our favorite cities, The 31st St. Pub in beautiful Pittsburgh, PA! Our good karma has truly paid off. Please go to this show, The 31st St. Pub, Pittsburgh, PA, Tuesday, April 6th at 9:00 PM with The Weirdos, The Cheats, and Destroy Everything. See you there! March 26th 2004 It sure has been a while since we updated this site, hasn't it? We're back on track now and getting shit done. Here comes a long one. First, we'd like to thank all the great bands, venues, and civilians that treated us like kings on our recent southwest tour. We made a lot of new friends and got to visit with some old ones. We had the time of our lives, thank you all. The tour started with a bang in fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada! We played with The Pervz (a killer band I might add) at the "Happiest Place on Earth," the Double Down Saloon. It was a banner night, we apparently set a record for the most fights in one night, 9 total! We brought half of one of broken the table tops home as a souvenir. Next, it was off to sunny Arizona for another great time at Jughead's in Phoenix, we officially love Sid (the owner). We finally got to do a show with our pal Wendy and her band Whiskey Bitch. That girl is pure rock! The following night we shot down to Tucson to Vaudeville Cabaret for a Superbowl Sunday blowout with the greatest staff and patrons ever. At half-time we started watching a DVD of Johnny Cash impersonating Elvis just seconds before the, now legendary, nipple slip. DAMN YOU, MAN IN BLACK! We were sad to leave Tucson but next it was off to Texas for 6 shows in a row. We started things off in El Paso at a nice little place called Surge's. It was a Monday so the crowd was small but super cool and the bands we played with, Leak and Speed Razor, were awesome. Tuesday it was off to Midland for a wacky show in a shit-kicker called Hot Shots. It was a long night punctuated by the beautiful bartender breathing fire for the crowd! Wednesday saw us in Beautiful Austin, TX. at the Red-Eyed Fly. We hit the stage at midnight just as a big local talent night was wrapping up outside. Loads of folks stuck around to see us, we had a blast. When you're in Austin, make sure to stop by Hell's Tacos and tell John that Destroy Everything sent you! Thursday we were in Denton at a great place called Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios. Don't let the name fool you, this place is a full blown bar and music palace. Josh the owner has to be one of the most dedicated and amiable people we've met, to date. Thanks for the reception! They do things bigger in Texas and our Friday was no exception. We had two shows that day, the first was at a punk co-op called 1919 Hemphill. One of the bands got pissy and dropped out so it was just us and another band named Aquavengers. Just as well, Aquavengers rocked and had no attitude. Later that night we played a house party in Dallas that absolutely fucking rocked! There was a big ass bonfire outside and loads of drunken weirdos everywhere. The bands were great, Jiz and the Jerkoffs, Urine Trouble, and Front Line Assault. After a day off we wrapped things up in Louisville, KY. at Uncle Pleasant's. The line up included Dead City Rejects, The Revenants, and Nowhere Fast. This place is a totally professional establishment. From a bands perspective you couldn't hope for a better venue to play. All the bands played great and the crowd was huge. Can't wait to get back down there. So, there you have it, another one in the can. Next up is to do a few shows in the Chicago area, one on April 25th with our pals Dummy and some friends from San Francisco, Subincision. It's looking like June 2nd we may be playing with Dummy at Double Door, that should be good. There's also talk of some "super secret" shows at Liar's Club and Exit (shhh, don't tell anybody). Throw in the occasional Pittsburgh and Rochester shows and that about sums it up. And, finally, we are finishing up the cover art for our next full-length CD release, No More Monkeys. That should be coming out sometime this summer. Next fall we're planning to tour the entire west coast and parts of the southwest in support of the new record. December 20th 2003 So, we've been getting some rave reviews of our efforts at DestroyYourRadio.com. There will be a new episode of "Live from Combustion Manor" airing tonight, it is pure anarchy! We also made a live recording of a show we played on November 21st, 2003, with Deal's Gone Bad, Dummy, and Rock and Roll Daredevils. That will be playing on DestroyYourRadio.com after the holidays. And speaking of that show in November, we just want to thank everyone involved with making it happen. This was a great evening full of cool bands, great people, and tons of booze. It was a birthday celebration for "Irish" Rich in cooperation with Darius Hurley of Punk Rock Fridays. We have a bunch of shows happening for the holidays. First will be a pair of shows in lovely Pittsburgh, PA on the 26th and 27th of December. Next, we'll be back in "Rock"chester, MN for New Year's Eve and possibly up in Minneapolis, at The Triple Rock Social Club, on Jan. 3rd. These are destined to be drunken free-for-all's, to be sure. Our Jan/Feb tour plans have changed a little since last we spoke. We're now going to focus exclusively on the southwest with shows in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Tucson, El Paso, Austin, Houston, and bunch of others. As soon as we have the confirmed dates we will post 'em in the "Shows" section of the site. November 14th 2003 The first episode of of "Live! From Combustion Manor" is now playing on DestroyYourRadio.com. This is MUST listen programming. No where else can you hear the members of Destroy Everything getting drunk and playing kick ass punk rock, well, unless you go to one of our shows... or listen to our records... anyway, this is the only place you can hear our opinions and stories on the topic. The show is recorded live at Combustion Manor, home of the Spontaneous Combustion punk empire and is hosted by MXV, curator of the infamous "Punk Vault." His collection of pre-1990 punk vinyl is astounding! New episodes of "Live! From Combustion Manor" will be recorded on the first Friday of every month (unless we're on tour, of course!) and "aired" the following Thursday night. We've also added a "Low Res" version of the site for you cheap bastards with a dial-up connection, it's the new millennium, get on board. There's a lot of drinking going on but there's also some serious punk history revealed during these shows. There's 169 years of combined punk experience in the booth on this show, you just might learn a thing or two! October 10th 2003 DestroyYourRadio.com has arrived!! A mere 8 months after a twist of poverty had dashed our hopes of our own streaming punk radio show, the charity gods have smiled on us with big server shaped teeth. The current version of our show is designed for users with a high bandwidth connection (DSL, cable modem, T1) but we'll be adding a crappy low bandwidth solution soon. We're officially accepting submissions from bands and labels so, as much as we'd like to have you here at our site, take a trip to DestroyYourRadio.com and find out how to get involved. While you're there why not have a listen, there's over 3 hours of continuous punk classics! September 7th 2003 Yes, we suck for not updating this site in a more timely manner but we're not sorry, so fuck you. Our new EP, Three Cheers for You, is officially released. You can get yourself a copy at one of our shows or at RevHQ or Interpunk, and why not pick up a copy of Please Help Me while you're at it. We've finally started the cover artwork for our next album, No More Monkeys. The songs are all mixed so as soon as we finish this damn art the disc will be released. Maybe we'll even get it out this year! Next, we would like to thank, from the bottom of our shrivelled, black hearts, everyone who helped us out with our August tour out west. It's nice to see that there are still good old fashioned punks out there that are willing to help out a band that they've never seen before. All the booking agents, club owners, staff, and bands that we had the pleasure to meet were genuinely cool and supportive, thank you all. Check out our "Links" page for all the great bands and clubs we played for. Here's some people we'd really like to thank personally: Jeff Jizz, the Grills family in Pueblo for putting us up (and putting up with us!), Thomas at AZPX Skateboards in Phoenix, Sid at Jughead's in Phoenix, Hanover's mom for setting us up, Wendy from the 440's, Sid and Scott at the Double Down Saloon in Vegas, Larry and Corey at the Blank Club in San Jose, Micki (sweetest woman in the world!), Anne Marie, and Emmett at the Stork Club in Oakland, Shane and the rest of the Die Monster Die crew in SLC, Arminda, Karen and their families for treating us like kings!, and Jennifer in Denver for the last minute booking. We've got some cool shit coming up, most noteably, Saturday October 11th in Pittsburgh. Our good friends Pam and Peter from Motorpsychos and Four Barrel Ghost, respectively, are getting married! The wedding ceremony and reception is happening in the Memphis Room at Zythos, on Carson St. in the Burgh. The ceremony will be performed by another good friend Reverend Matt Tuite, A.K.A. "The Polisher", from the band Behind Enemy Lines. All the members of Destroy Everything will be standing up in the wedding, on the bride's side, as Pam's bride's maids. After the ceremony is over, all three of our bands are going to do a show, it's going to be great! We're going to do some shows in the south at the end of November, most likely in Kentucky, Georgia, and Florida. And in January we're going to the west coast again, this time for a month long tour! Details will be posted in the "Shows" section as they become available. June 18th 2003 Sorry for the delayed updates, damn we've been busy! Now let's go back a few weeks to
May 23rd... Jump ahead to Friday, June 13th... Special thanks to: Up next is a show on July 4th (fingers crossed) with The Weekend Warriors from Pittsburgh, PA. We're having a bitch of a time finding a venue for this date, if anyone can help it will be worth it. Finally, we have been booking dates, at the beginning of August, for a two week tour out to the west coast and back. So far things are filling in nicely but we're waiting for a few confirmations and info about other bands. Check the "Shows" section of the site for details. May 13th 2003 We have all our lyrics posted! Go to our Discography and follow the links. Also, we've just begun the arduous task of booking a Southwest tour for the first two weeks in August. The plan is to swing out to Las Vegas and back to Chicago, it will be a blast. In other news, we had another great time playing in Rochester, MN on May 3rd. Our buddy Keith at Board to Death Sports threw a day-long shindig loaded with fashion, skatin', drinkin', and rockin'! Keith has been throwing these "after hours" parties that are definitely the place to be when all the bars in town close. We played with Triad, a group of spirited young lads from the Rochester vicinity. Destroy Everything and Triad each played two sets which proved to be perfect timing because when we pooped out the beer ran out! Breakfast at Denny's followed by a quick "cat nap" at the Super 8, we then joined a few of the Matt's and a couple of non-Matt's for lunch at... well... Denny's. Cocoa had "Moons Over My Hammy" for both meals! What a constitution. We'll definitely be heading back up to Rochester this year, if for no other reason than the Matts and the meals. April 29th 2003 Where do I start? We had another tiny show at Rube's in Harvey, IL on Saturday, April 12th. This time only two of the FIVE bands booked could be bothered to show up: The Audition and Destroy Everything. Sure, I'm a geezer but I seem to remember a time when doing shows was a fun and exciting way to meet people and support a diverse scene. Here's a tip, no one will support your band if you can't support your own shows. Give up, assholes. Sorry, I'm off the soap box now. We just got back from another little tour of Ohio and Pittsburgh and it was GREAT! We started things out on Wednesday, April 23rd at High Five in Columbus, OH with Buzzsawyer and The Bastard Squad of America. Only slightly more people than last time but equally fun. Some of the greatest bar staff we've met. We'll be back. Next, it was off to Pittsburgh for a bit of promoting and some R and R. No show on this day, just punk and debauchery! Thanks to our pals Mary and Matt from Behind Enemy Lines for the flop house. On Friday, April 25th we went back to Cedars Lounge in Youngstown, OH. This was a "makeup" show with the King Mother (see the Feb 5th entry for details). King Mother ROCKS! Cheddar Nines declared, "King Mother, hell, they should be called King SPEAKERS!" They are, indeed, backed by a wall of solid rock. I'm glad we finally got to see them play before guitarist Steve moves away and gets married. Good luck, Steve. Due to last minute cancellations, we had to scramble to find a band for the third slot on this bill. Amazingly, our pals The Fucking Americans from Rochester, MN drove 15 HOURS to do this one show!! They got to Youngstown before we even made it from Pittsburgh so, naturally, they started drinking at 6pm. By the time they went on, at about 1:30am, their heads were filled with drink and their set was truly inspired. We love those guys! Finally, on Saturday the 26th, we returned to Pittsburgh to play with the Motorpsychos and Science Fiction Idols at the 31st St. Pub. Of course, the show was a blast and the Motorpsychos kicked our asses, again (literally, Hanover has the bruises to prove it). We met a bunch more great folks this night and will definitely be coming back for more. We have some important shows coming up in June and July and we expect everyone to come to them. We don't ask for much but when we do we expect compliance so BE THERE! Mar. 27th 2003 First, we had a great little (and I do mean little) show on Saturday, March 22nd at Rube's in Harvey, IL. It was our fist time going to that place and let me tell you IT WAS OLD SCHOOL! I couldn't help feeling like I was at a VFW hall in 1982. Three of the four bands "booked" for the show made it: The Fuzzheads, Egroll Willie and Destroy Everything. There was no support from the "promoter" that set up the show. Note the intentional use of quotes in the previous sentences. Both Eggroll Willie and The Fuzzheads were a blast to play with, and play for, for that matter. A true air of punk community was wafting through the halls of Rube's that night. The owner and his sons made us feel right at home and we are definitely going back, next time with legions of fans! Second, our Internet gravy train has derailed and we've had to delay the launch of "Destroy Everything Radio" for the time being. We are working on securing a dedicated connection at Destroy Everything's headquarters so that we may bring you speedy, reliable, long term service. Viva the People's Punk! Feb. 5th 2003 WOW! Have we had a fucked up, but cool, couple of weeks. First, thanks to everyone in Ohio and Pittsburgh that showed us a great time. Next, We're coming back, assholes! A brief synopsis: Fun in Youngstown, even if our pals King Mother could not play with us due to their bassist Ron being burgled and collapsing with appendicitis just hours before the show. While there, please visit the "Tally-Ho-tel" and tell 'em the Viking King sent ya. Pittsburgh... ahhh. What more can we say. I think we're going to move there. The only blemish on this idyllic punk stop over was word of the death of a friend. Oddly, even that could not dim the bright lights of that lovely, dead steel town. The high point had to be 31st St. Pub and the Motorpsychos show. See you guys on April 26th. Then there's Columbus. Averting death, due to blizzards, in the mountains between Pittsburgh and Columbus brought us to the High Five. How many folks would you expect to venture out on a snowy, 10°, Super Bowl Sunday? The right ones! Small show with just the right crowd. Punk-fucking-Rock! See you on the 23rd of April. Coming soon: Photos and lyrics, whoopee! Jan. 14th 2003 Well, all the charges have been dropped and the antibiotics have been administered and most of the stains have come out of the carpet and the sofa. So to celebrate, Destroy Everything is finally getting around to releasing some NEW MATERIAL! Three Cheers for You, a nine song EP, should "officially" be released shortly. Not long after that we are planning the release of our second full-length LP. It is titled No More Monkeys, and should be available summer 2003. And since we're in the upswing phase of our manic behavior we thought we'd take advantage of it. In February (or March), 2003 we will be debuting Destroy Radio, a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week, honest to goodness, streaming MP3, punk broadcast! Deployment will happen in several phases starting with, literally, thousands of classic punk tunes from the 70's, 80's and beyond, juke box style! Followed by the addition of archived, pre-recorded shows complete with band interviews, humorous discussion, parody and, of course, music. The final phase will connect it all to an online store where you can find and purchase the punk you hear! News | Shows | Pictures | For Sale | Links | Webography | Discography | Downloads | Radio |
